Highlighting one of our employees
From Prision to Paycheck
This month one of our employees Hector Morales was featured in an article, "From Prision to a Paycheck" in the Wall Street Journal. Here at Action, we are proud to participate in a program sponsored by the Manhattan Institute which pushes ex-offenders toward "rapid attachment to work."
"This fast-track approach isn't typical. For the newly released,
the usual
approach might be called services first—offering job training, drug treatment
and help finding housing, all thought to necessarily precede job-seeking. The
results often haven't been tracked and overall have been disappointing, based on
recidivism data.
Now, programs that emphasize work first have begun to sprout up around the
country, typically run by nonprofit groups."
The Wall Street Journal
Hector is a wonderful employee and we are delighted to have him on our team.

Global Green visits our Recycling Facilites
Global Green Tour
August 10th 2012
We love to team up with organizations like Global Green who also see a greener future and value sustainability. On August 10th, Global Green's Coalition for Resource Recovery (CoRR) team took a tour of our material recovery facility (MRF) today in the Bronx. Also on the tour were representatives from CoRR members Design & Source, Transtech, and Pret A Manger, whose Head of Sustainability, Nicki Fisher, was in town visiting from the U.K.
